I feel like I have just not had any me time. Between work craziness, training for the mountain goat, volleyball, and other various commitments... it certainly makes it challenging. Running has really become my me time. I put my headphones on and go. I run at my own pace, which is slowly improving. Spring hassprung, thank goodness. I have had enough of treadmills. They just don't do it for me anymore. I would much rather be running on a hilly country road than running in place. There is so much more out there to see. Growing up I always spent my time outdoors. Continuing to do that into adulthood has certainly proved to be much more challenging. I own my own home, I live by myself, and I work in a very demanding profession. My house is a mess, I have come to accept it. I've moved on. If only I could just learn to put things away when I am done, and quit falling asleep on the couch at night.<div><br /></div><div>Tuesday was a gorgeous day here in Syracuse. After working 9+ hours, I took Guinness for a 6.2 mile run on the Erie Canal. This tired both him and myself out - and I got a good (flat) training run in. I was really only supposed to run 4.5, but it was so nice out. Today I ran with a bunch of my friends. AKA they ran together - and i ran at my own pace. We did 7 miles today throughout my neighborhood. It was another beautiful day. We are all training for the Mountain Goat so we get together at least once a week to run together. Then saturdays, the Syracuse track club hosts training runs where there are 600 or so people every week. They started 2 weeks ago, and I have been to both. This is a fact I am very proud of , especially since they start at 8am on saturday morning. My right knee is still a sore, but thanks to Dr Jessica, Biofreeze, and Ibuprofin it is not as sore as it was. I feel it more as I ramp up my milage. No other injuries to report at this time!</div><div><br /></div><div>As I say every post, weight loss is a current struggle. I seem to be on a plateau with a 2% +/- slope. My last 5 weigh-ins have been +3, -3, -2, +3, and yesterdays -3.5 . This brings me to a total weight loss of 57 pounds. Woohoo. 4 more pounds, and I will have lost 20% of my body weight from when I started!!! To meet my goal for falls wedding season, I want to loose another 50 pounds by the end of August. This goal is seeming more and more outrageous. I will just have to take it one week at a time. At this weeks meeting, there was a gentleman who made his healthy weight, with a weight loss of 100 pounds. This was very motivating. Today I made poor food choices, but tomorrow is a new day, a clean slate. I know I can do well</div><div> again this week!!! I want to see another loss come wednesday!!!</div><div><br /></div><div> </div><div>I must admit I love my new computer as I lay here in bed typing this out when I should be sleeping...</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH5AEHvX-p7pH4o7LjBbjZtiyBiS1GFlMpWw3BkHwTqZ9qlAq4eeNwUwMqsoHatzoxasSxymMJdclbJxnflAm0PR_qYAlwoPWHxChJ8ILOQR5jqxLJmrQO_2z_EfJtmfJFFP4dYaGoV3_b/s320/Photo+8.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5185221915103053570" /><div> </div><div>Oh yeah, and I will update my graphs to the right when i get a chance!</div>Patrickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09197390402225304246noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1397525101574738372.post-11894350817493850392008-03-15T07:30:00.000-07:002008-03-15T07:50:58.921-07:00It's in!The new computer is in, and I have been tooling around with it constantly. I have also set up my new wireless network in my house. This means that there are no more excuses!!! Here is a picture taken last night at my parents house with my new toy! <br /><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEichCOmyK-MZehEv-Cfiu3xLCDc3cMDiK9vxD9ODasg_FY9SzsRteOyMcMm4mwSf0H3bs_HTs5tbYKyvnWqquaJh9EPCaDPPIXUzXWzuMCi1YAA-QddaZrXlM9j6ta9qf5BzX7-dHQHIP8o/s320/Photo+3.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5177976156740117538" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Also here is a video of grandpa way singing the lyrics to the song he and grandma danced to when they were in second grade. My computer is quickly faililng me, and has a rough time handling the internet - that and life has been crazy. Since I am currently installing AUTOcad 2008, I have a few minutes. I have ordered a new computer, which should be delivered tomorrow. I am quite excited. I am going the apple route. I have ordered a macbook pro, and can't wait to get it. Expect more entries, once I have the new computer.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>A lot has happened in the last three weeks. I am in training for the Mountain Goat - a ten mile hilly road race here in Syracuse on May 4th. This week is my 5th week of training! I am using a novice half marathon training guide. This should really get me in shape for the goat! From the goat, I hope I can hold on to my training until the Boilermaker in July. On saturday I ran my second race of 2008, the Shamrock Run. This run is a 4 mile run which took place on Tipperary Hill saturday the 8th. I had my best race, ever (in the 5 races I have ever run!) I finished in 44:15 - a pace of 11:04 per mile. This is my best, most consistent pace, especially for a race with hilly terrain. I was ecstatic. I finished 916 out of 1200+/- runners - not last!!!! I was so ecstatic that since saturday, including this race I have run a total of 17.5 miles this week, which puts me a little ahead of my training this week. My right knee is a little sore but stretching, ice, and ibuprofin do wonders!</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Weight loss is a continuous struggle. In the last three weighins since my last entry I have: lost one, gained 3, and at yesterdays weigh in I lost the three I gained. This puts me at a total loss of 54.5 pounds. I have been struggling to lose since I have begun my training - I feel like I am always hungry - and I don't eat enough (says my leader). My next goal is to get down to 200lbs by the last week in August, for the three weddings I have in the following month. I want to see shock and awe. When I make it down to 200, I will have lost a total of 107.5 lbs. I am over halfway there!!!</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Here is a picture from the Shamrock Run - I don't think you can see me!</div><div> </div><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5177242301448053778" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKejO-vFDk7AIwyQU4pVeqHjLzpO81oVCCMNeO0f3V1FAUyZfK7Dl-CACFiaFiFL_rrn7-7WOcpW8rduoN2iqqwpepge97aO6EX4UJ3uTYrJz3gsI7diz0ZAfke3XYQxz1JkRMPAM1X0L0/s320/Tipperary-Hill-Shamrock-Run-2008-087%5B1%5D.jpg" border="0" /></div>Patrickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09197390402225304246noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1397525101574738372.post-11575642809957547752008-02-22T09:20:00.000-08:002008-02-22T10:23:18.267-08:00Evolutions... Why the name?I have begun this blog to document my weight loss "journey". I have struggled with my weight as long as can remember. I started my "Evolution" the summer months of 2007. I decided that I would run the Boilermaker, a 15K (9.3 mile) Race in Utica, NY. Let me just let everyone know that I was never a runner. I downloaded a training schedule, and was on my way. Next thing, It is Boilermaker time, and it was <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipnHrFYK6qepD-tHxxS8dmK8uP8MyfcUb9gP5sIiLiX3OJlK8XFWv1qD9WlKh0HYEa1j9dXFIUqZGyDMaBe32YDtVeftpyIcfcTAM42Z3LvOTt8NGpDBo7K9ZO7nJeaGrampe8N0HImeLT/s1600-h/Boilermaker2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5169860106826245506" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipnHrFYK6qepD-tHxxS8dmK8uP8MyfcUb9gP5sIiLiX3OJlK8XFWv1qD9WlKh0HYEa1j9dXFIUqZGyDMaBe32YDtVeftpyIcfcTAM42Z3LvOTt8NGpDBo7K9ZO7nJeaGrampe8N0HImeLT/s320/Boilermaker2.jpg" border="0" /></a>one of the hottest days of the year. I finished the race, and couldn't believe that I actually completed It. 10 - 15 minutes later, I passed out. I was alone. It was scary, I felt myself losing conscienceness and couldn't do anything about it. I awoke to a woman screaming and an EMT slapping my face. 45 minutes, one liter of saline, some oxygen, and sitting in an air conditioned ambulance I was back on my feet. Apparently my body was extremely dehydrated and my blood pressure was down to 70/40, not good. This image was literally minutes before passing out. <div><div><div><br /><div></div><div></div><div>Lessons Learned: Running 9.3 miles in 90 degree weather is tough on your body. </div><br /><div></div><div></div><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgINjOWwfMyftzGfcPo7qlS2EOQ1zlc82kM7HvCQL7qX_6FXeRxejUt743ztAKOeykv20kwz6V6Ye_krWSqBDztG7nK7BPTzpCaJJ4gqc6Y7gOo72ulKAY_AcUmfnAtbhKtx1OOGSRj17p5/s1600-h/Birthday+Wine+Tour.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5169862391748847010" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgINjOWwfMyftzGfcPo7qlS2EOQ1zlc82kM7HvCQL7qX_6FXeRxejUt743ztAKOeykv20kwz6V6Ye_krWSqBDztG7nK7BPTzpCaJJ4gqc6Y7gOo72ulKAY_AcUmfnAtbhKtx1OOGSRj17p5/s320/Birthday+Wine+Tour.jpg" border="0" /></a>Fast forward a couple months of recovery and we are at the end of the summer, aka State Fair time, and my 25'th birthday - August 25, 2007. I went on a wine tour on my birthday and<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0duZGtxtjTzMYD82Wk8UfLzovgt7eVEoLOElDurE8uewUz9rK1xOqz34NcTqsBCY6KtfnUKyd7Y3XyfcvTg5PbjQALLZfwqYoofzEcH9ohSSXtm8ODpwCkWGMRc3iOiLQ_7jUXql4M2Nt/s1600-h/Birthday+Wine+Tour.jpg"></a> spent the weekend with some of the most amazing friends a guy could ask for. Cue the picture of Manda and I during my birthday wine tour! It was a good day! At this point, I had decided that I was going to begin weight watchers with my mother after the Labor Day party weekend. She had tried for years to get me to join with her to manage my weight. Me being the stubborn asshole that I am, never joined with her. I guess it just took me time until I was ready to do something for myself. September 5, 2007 the switch flipped, and finally I was going to do something good for me. I attended my first ever weight watchers meeting. It has now been almost 6 months since I have been a member, and I have lost 53.5 pounds since then. It has not been easy, and never will be. But i truly believe that I am on a path to success. The purpose of this "blog" is for me to document my thoughts and daily activities throughout my weight loss struggle. This will show people that I am far from perfect. Perhaps this will motivate others. Who knows. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghgW_U1B05o1rNADO01v4zGVOrIhXenH6T0TsPTY8Ob3355MjvW_f79wfajdOAuvwiGVBZGIyI2ytTXfuNyVlqhHrDXXD_KEo-qPhkbk_52-YuwZsD-bt3rwyVvWVxeq3o8fm1BJAKOPVF/s1600-h/Pat+and+Sara.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5169865857787454898" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghgW_U1B05o1rNADO01v4zGVOrIhXenH6T0TsPTY8Ob3355MjvW_f79wfajdOAuvwiGVBZGIyI2ytTXfuNyVlqhHrDXXD_KEo-qPhkbk_52-YuwZsD-bt3rwyVvWVxeq3o8fm1BJAKOPVF/s320/Pat+and+Sara.jpg" border="0" /></a>Here is a Picture of Sara Sullivan and I from last weekends Syracuse vs. Georgetown's basketball game where SU upset Georgetown, and the students stormed the court!
